Homeless
Underneath the outer vestments of all humans
Lies the heart and soul of their being
A disheveled man with matted hair
Sits at a piano on a sidewalk playing
Beautiful music
A widowed vet who lost his wife
To suicide
He finds himself in this desert of grief
His journey back home may be navigated
Through his music
Or through the attention of those touched
By his playing this piano
As they search for his identity
In their search he may be restored
To the possibilities of life
As the notes, sound, and music he creates
On this piano finds its way
Into the hearts and souls
Of all who listen and can hear
The poignant plea of this man
